SK Telecom (SKT) is accelerating its evolution into an “artificial intelligence (AI) company,” focusing on three major management elements: △ customers △ service △ technology. In particular, domestic and foreign big tech companies such as Google, Microsoft (MS), and Naver are competing to raise the level of commercial services beyond “ultra-large AI” and related research and development (MS), Microsoft (MS), and Naver are competing.

According to industries on the 30th, SKT has applied a giant language model (GPT-3) to the AI service “A” (A-DOT), which was first released in May as an open beta version. SKT develops its own Korean-specific version of GPT-3 and applies it to the A-dot service to naturally handle daily conversations with users or specific tasks required by users.

Super-large AI allows AI to learn large amounts of data on its own and make comprehensive inference like humans. A representative super-large AI is the conversation language model GPT-3, which was introduced in 2020 by the U.S. AI Technology Research Foundation “Open AI.” OpenAI introduced ‘GPT-1’, which was learned with 117 million parameters (parameters, AI performance indicators) in 2018, and 175 billion parameters were applied to GPT-3.

SKT A-Dot also introduced ‘A-DOT TV’ and ‘A-DOT Game’ based on GPT-3 specialized in Korean. A-dot TV supports users to enjoy personalized content that suits their taste for free without advertisements. As an A-dot game, you can play 26 casual games, and you can also receive points (con) to decorate A-dot characters as rewards for game play.

Another growth axis of SKT is the AI semiconductor ‘SAPEON’. Sapion, an AI processor for data centers developed by SKT, is a non-memory semiconductor that performs large-scale operations required for AI services at high speed and low power. Safion is provided in the form of chips, cards, and servers, and can provide large-scale cloud-based AI services in data centers and clouds.
