The startup Somtidang Company, which operates the online and offline hobby leisure platform Somtidang, announced on the 11th that it has attracted 4 billion won worth of Series A investment.

Spring Camp, Coolidge Corner Investment, Capstone Partners, and Lighthouse Combine Best participated in this investment. Spring Camp and Coolidge Corner Investment, which previously participated in seed investment and Free A investment, were re-listed as follow-up investors.

As of January, Sommadang secured 1 million cumulative app downloads, 25,000 classes, and 12,000 active writers.

In this investment, the Somtdang Company explained that the rapid transition of offline-oriented services to non-face-to-face in line with the COVID-19 era was highly praised.

Sompdang has succeeded in converting non-face-to-face services to “Skip Kit” that receives necessary supplies where users want and participates in classes online, and “Live Class,” a B2B service for companies based on it.

More than 35,000 executives and employees from 300 companies have participated in the live class, which debuted in March 2020, the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis.

As a result, sales of craft kits last year grew 280% compared to 2020, and transactions of craftsmanship companies grew 306% compared to the previous year.

“We will provide more diverse classes and contents through a massive service renewal at the end of this month,” said Chung Myung-won, CEO of Somdang Company. “We will be reborn as the first hobby leisure platform in Korea that combines numerous offline contents across the country and online.”
